Lor Leigh Portfolio
Alloire Leigh-Naki Thomas

Creative
Hello! My name is Alloire Thomas, and I am a Howard University Alumna with a BBA in Computer Information Systems Major with a Concentration in Cyber Security and Minor in Painting. I was born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia to a very loving and supporting family. Their support has allowed me to pursue my interests, and excel in my many hobbies.

As you may be able to tell, I enjoy a wide variety of activities, such as videography, art, crafts, dance, acting etc. The purpose of this portfolio is to have a centralized space for all of my work, and hopefully create more opportunities for myself to showcase my passion.

Videography
My love for videography came about when I was around 10 years old. A combination of watching my parents record and edit sports games as well as growing up watching Youtubers both inspired me to develop a love for creating videos. Learning to edit at that young age from my parents, as well as their encouragement to continue creating videos led to me creating many short videos that I would share with my family. As time continued on they gifted me an HP laptop, and camcorder to continue pursuing my passion. From there, I created a YouTube channel on January 21, 2013, which has been a creative outlet for me ever since.

Arts and Crafts
I began doing art when I was very young, though my formal training only consists of the minor I pursued when I was at Howard. Much of my artistic growth has come through personal exploration and experimentation. I love to experiment with different types of mediums as well as crafts, but my favorites are acrylic and charcoal. Beyond traditional mediums, I’ve also developed an interest in digital art. I have used both digital and traditional means to create artwork that I now sell via etsy. Looking ahead, one of my biggest goals is to create and publish my own original Webtoon series—a dream that brings together my love for storytelling and visual art.

Dance
I began dancing relatively late compared to others. I was around 12 years old when I started hip-hop, 14 when I began majorette, and I didn't take my first technique drop-in class until I was 16 or 17. When I first began dancing I lacked confidence and rhythm. Dance did not come naturally to me, and loving the sport was a slow process. At first I just went to dance because it was something to do, but eventually it became a safe space and outlet. The summer of 2015, I worked day in and day out; stretching and practicing. By the beginning of the next season I had made captain over the whole team, and maintained the position until I graduated high school. I took over the dance team as the head coach and choreographer when I was 15 years old. Since then the team has gone on to earn a top 5 ranking at nationals and a top 16 ranking at worlds as of December 2024.

Acting
Acting is a craft I’m deeply passionate about and eager to continue developing. I began exploring it through a few drama and acting classes in grade school and took on one of my first lead roles as “Gardana” in my 10th grade play, The Castle. Prior to that I had minor roles in my schools "The Wizard of Oz", "Alice in Wonderland", and "Macbeth".

During my junior and senior years at Howard University, I dedicated much of my free time to participating in both undergraduate and graduate student films, gaining valuable on-camera experience. Some of these films have even gone on to win awards and be selected for film festivals. Outside of on set experience, I've participated in workshops and classes to further cultivate my skills and understand the craft. It is a dream of mine to be able to act in larger productions.
