Creative

Hello! My name is Alloire Thomas, and I am a Senior Computer Information Systems Major with a Concentration in Cyber Security and Minor in Painting at Howard University. As a student, I do my best to take every opportunity I can to diversify my skill set.

In terms of my early life, I was born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia to a very loving and supporting family. Their support has allowed me to pursue my interests, and excel in my many hobbies.

As you may be able to tell, I enjoy a wide variety of activities, such as videography, art, crafts, dance, acting etc. The purpose of this portfolio is to have a centralized space for all of my work, and hopefully create more opportunities for myself to showcase my passion.

Videography

My love for videography came about when I was around 10 years old. A combination of watching my parents record and edit sports games as well as growing up watching Youtubers both inspired me to develop a love for creating videos. Learning to edit at that young age from my parents, as well as their encouragement to continue creating videos led to me creating many short videos that I would share with my family. As time continued on they gifted me an HP laptop, and camcorder to continue pursuing my passion. From there, I created a YouTube channel on January 21, 2013, which has been a creative outlet for me ever since.

Arts and Crafts

I began doing art when I was very young, however, I have only taken a few art classes during my time in grade school. This includes 1 class in 8th grade, and 2 art classes in junior and senior year of high school, all of which were beginner classes. In turn, this means that most of the progress I have made has been through my own exploration. I love to experiment with different types of mediums as well as crafts, but I believe that my favorite mediums are charcoal and acrylic paint. To further explore my love for painting I have studied the subject as my minor at Howard University. I have completed the following classes: Painting I&II, Mixed Media, Figure Painting and Public Art. I also have an interest in digital art. Using procreate, I have been able to draw and design keychains, stickers, pre-drawn canvases etc. I currently sell these products on my Etsy! In the future I hope to create my own original Webtoon!

Dance

I began dancing relatively late compared to other dancers. I was around 12 years old when I started hip-hop, 14 when I began majorette, and I didn't take my first technique drop in class until I was 16 or 17. When I first began dancing I lacked confidence and rhythm. Dance did not come naturally to me, and loving the sport was a slow process. At first I just went to dance because it was something to do. However, after getting cut from many of my favorite dances during my first season, I decided that something needed to change. The summer of 2015, I worked day in and day out. Even at summer camp, I spent all of my days stretching and practicing. By the beginning of the next season I had made captain over the whole team, and maintained the position until I graduated high school. I took over the dance team after our previous coach left in spring on 2018, when I was 15 years old. Since then, I have coached and choreographed for the team, whom has won 16 trophies+ in the past 3 years of competing.

Acting

Acting is something I'd like to continue to cultivate. One day I want to have a role in a movie or tv show. In the past, I took drama in 8th grade as well as 9th and 10th grade. I also participated in our 10th grade play "The Castle," which I played one of my first main roles, "Gardana." During my junior and senior year at Howard, I have spent much of my free time participating in undergraduate and graduate student films. I am currently in an Intro to Acting class where I am working hard to further my acting skills.
